The United Kingdom is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes, and its national parks offer a fantastic way to explore and appreciate the country’s natural beauty. Here’s a guide to some of the UK’s finest national parks:

Lake District National Park

Located in Cumbria, England, the Lake District is renowned for its picturesque lakes, rugged mountains, and charming villages. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, and wildlife spotting. Some must-visit spots include Windermere, England’s largest lake, Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, and the quaint town of Keswick. Challan Hall is in Silverdale to the south, with views over its own lake, while Augill Castle, Johnby Hall and Warwick Hall are all nearby.

Dartmoor National Park

Located in Devon, England, Dartmoor is famous for its wild, rugged beauty and ancient archaeological sites, such as stone circles and hut circles. The moorland is perfect for hiking and horse riding, and the region has a unique and mysterious atmosphere. Wolsey Lodges in the National Park include Burnville House. Meanwhile, just across the border into Cornwall Sandhill House is in the Tamar Valley AONB adjoining Dartmoor’s western edge, usefully set on the new 90-mile Cornish coast to coast walking path that allows you to make a circular walk of Cornwall’s section of the South West Coast Path.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park

The Yorkshire Dales offer a truly immersive experience, where you can connect with nature, history, and the local culture. Whether you’re exploring the dramatic landscapes, visiting historical sites, or simply relaxing in a quaint village, you’re sure to create lasting memories in this stunning part of England. Wolsey Lodges here include Firs Farm, Mickley B&B and Challan Hall, while Augill Castle, Johnby Hall and Warwick Hall are all nearby.

North York Moors National Park

This park is situated in Northeast Yorkshire, England, and offers a mix of coastal cliffs, expansive heather moorland, and lush valleys. The picturesque landscapes are dotted with historic sites, including the impressive Whitby Abbey. It’s an excellent destination for hiking and cycling. Firs Farm, Mickley B&B are amongst your options here but only Shallowdale House is right in the National Park, a mile or two from heather-clad moorland.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

On the west coast of Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast is the only national park in the UK that is predominantly coastal. It boasts stunning cliffs, sandy beaches, and offshore islands, providing ample opportunities for coastal walks, water sports, and wildlife watching. Wolsey Lodges in and nearby include Castell Malgwyn, Manor Town House and Penbontbren Luxury B&B.
