County Sligo
Tucked into northwest Ireland’s border region, County Sligo trades on the memory of local poet WB Yeats, whose grave is near the flat-topped Benbulbin Mountain: B&Bs here share something of his lyrical skills. Sligo town is especially rewarding, with a medieval abbey, and there are beaches galore on its Atlantic coast. The Wolsey Lodge Bed and Breakfast here is beautifully set in a private estate.
