Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands is a great place to find a luxury B&B. The region is perhaps most famous for Sherwood Forest and the historic city of Nottingham where you will find not only Nottingham castle but also historic Anglo-Saxon caves under the city. Wolsey Lodges Bed and Breakfasts are perfectly placed to cater for literary enthusiasts: DH Lawrence hailed from Nottinghamshire, and two of Lord Byron’s ancestral family homes can be found here. One of them, Newstead Abbey is open to visitors. Perhaps the sheer scale of this goes some way to explain Byron’s romantic appeal: the historic house is massive and comes with 300 acres of parkland. Another Nottinghamshire highlight is Clumber Park, a National Trust property with 3800 acres of land.
