Wrackleford House
Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 9SN, EnglandHome to arguably, one of the UK’s finest fishing and shooting Estates …
Wrackleford House B&B is set on the mature stretch of the river Frome, the most western of the famous English chalk streams, in a private estate that has been home to the Pope family for the past six generations. The estate has more recently built a fine reputation for quality game shooting, thanks to its most spectacular of settings.
Everything here is gloriously and quintessentially English, from the classical antique furnishings and paintings inside the Georgian B&B to the sweeping lawns which lead down to the River Wrackle, beyond which are meadows and a waterfall. The B&B accommodation features guest rooms that are large and comfortable, the bathrooms are complete with marble bath and basin surrounds and feel, quite simply, luxuriously decadent.
A welcoming tea is enjoyed in the plant-filled conservatory, on sunny days there is a perfect outside location for a lazy breakfast. Breakfast is an excellent array of local Dorset produce and Katie will pack you a sumptuous picnic lunch or offer to cook a barbecue on the river banks if you’re fishing.
The more active of you might enjoy taking advantage of the many bicycles that are available on request. Dinner can be enjoyed at any of the excellent local restaurants.
