Stay in a fine Country Sports Estate
Wrackleford House is a four-bedroom country-house B&B set on the mature stretch of the river Frome, the most western of the famous English chalk streams, in a private estate that has been home to the Pope family for the past six generations. The estate has added to its fly fishing tradition by also building a fine reputation for quality game and simulated shooting. It could scarcely have a more spectacular setting.
Everything here is gloriously and quintessentially English, from the classical antique furnishings and paintings inside the Georgian B&B to the sweeping lawns which lead down to the River Wrackle, beyond which are meadows and a waterfall. The B&B accommodation features four guest bedrooms that are large and comfortable, variously configured as twin or superking doubles. All are ensuite, with bathrooms complete with marble bath and basin surrounds: they feel, quite simply, luxuriously decadent.
A welcoming tea is served to guests in the plant-filled conservatory, while on sunny days there is a perfect outside location for a lazy breakfast. Breakfast is an excellent array of local Dorset produce and Katie will pack you a sumptuous picnic lunch or offer to cook a barbecue on the river banks if you’re fishing.
The more active might enjoy taking advantage of the many bicycles that are available on request. Evening meals aren’t offered here, but there are countless local restaurants and Katie can always advise on which to choose.

Hosted by Katie Pope
Wrackleford is Oliver Pope's family home. Prior to moving here with Katie and their young family in 2006, Oliver spent time in the army. A keen interest in the countryside makes both he and Katie natural guardians of this wonderful estate and they enthusiastically and warmly welcome their B&B guests to enjoy.
