Completely renovated Regency mansion near Norwich
Reymerston Hall is a stunning Grade II listed mansion beautifully set in 13 landscaped acres, newly renovated to a very high standard. Set just to the west of Norwich it offers peace and tranquility in considerable style. It’s not without a touch of glamour: it was previously home to Wing Commander Ken Wallis, the WWII bomber pilot who went on to be a record-breaking autogyro pilot, was the stuntman flying James Bond’s ‘Little Nellie’ in ‘You Only Live Twice’ and only stopped flying autogyros from Reymerston Hall when, at the age of 95, he deemed it wise.
Reymerston Hall itself required a more thorough renovation – and got it. There are now six guest bedrooms, all well-proportioned and all en-suite. Furnishings are a mix of antique and modern, giving a classic, uncluttered feel. Attention to detail shows, with monogrammed bathrobes, Norfolk teas and locally-made organic toiletries.
Guest areas include a glorious south- and west-facing drawing room with an honesty bar, warmed in cooler months by a log-burning stove. This gives out on a lovely terrace, perfect for sunsets on long summer evenings. Breakfast is served in the rather grand Green Room – using local organic ingredients – or outside on the terrace if the weather permits. And, of course, there is an autogyro landing field.
The grounds are a delight, all completely private and including two small woodland areas and two large ponds, with rental bicycles available to help you explore. They’re considerably enlivened by Willow and Ringo, two young and rather mischievous pigmy goats.
