Much of Noyadd Trefawr dates back to the Elizabethan era, but it was substantially remodelled in 1820. There are three guest bedrooms. Bedroom one is a very spacious king-sized room with original Georgian panelling and views over parkland and woods, with a huge en-suite bathroom with a period cast iron bath. Bedroom two is a twin room with a pretty Georgian firelplace and garden views: it has a luxurious private shower room with underfloor heating. Bedroom three is another king-sized double, with dual aspect views over the Library Garden and ancient woodland, and an ensuite shower room with a heated marble floor. Furnishing is an eclectic range of generally antique items, but with a calm, restrained style – and never a hint of clutter.

Guests pretty much have the run of the place here. Your hosts live in a separate wing and you can feel free to rattle round  the dining room and  guest sitting room. And when the sun shines the grounds are a delight. The ten acres surrounding Noyadd Trefawr was designed and landscaped 200 years ago, and include a ha-ha, formal gardens, streams that run through a water garden into a Georgian lake and patches of ancient bluebell woodland. The grounds evolved along with the manor house, and you can even find the quarry that provided the stones for its construction. Specimen trees including oak, beach, field maple and walnut planted out in the original Victorian design have now grown to grandeur. A hundred years ago it would have taken a staff of 30 or more to maintain this property: in the 21st century you have the place to yourself and the sense of space is entrancing.

Breakfasts are served in the main dining room and feature local produce, almost always organic, and always freshly prepared. Special diets can easily be catered for but advance notice is appreciated in case any ingredients need to be ordered in. Noyadd Trefawr is licenced and light evening meals can often be arranged: for group bookings formal multi-course catering can also be arranged. Though the manor house only has three guest bedrooms The Cottage can accommodate four more – and the dining table is quite large enough to cater for everyone. Alternatively there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area, or 15 minutes away in Cardigan itself.
