Luxury Norfolk country-house B&B in a private estate

Hoveton Hall is a historic property – attributed to Humphrey Repton – that is now run as an exclusive B&B by the Buxton family. Set just outside Norwich amongst 15 acres of gardens within a wider 620-acre estate, it’s a substantial property dating back to 1809.  B & B accommodation is in one en-suite double room and a family suite, made up of a double and twin room sharing a large bathroom with shower and tub. This is one B&B where you’ll never feel crowded.

All rooms are beautifully proportioned and furnished as befits a 200-year-old stately home from the Regency period. Little touches of luxury in each room include dressing gowns, quality tea and coffee facilities and flat screen TVs.

Most importantly guests are welcomed into Hoveton Hall as friends, with full use of the library where – when conditions require – an open fire is invariably lit. Breakfasts are lavish, with a full range of cereals, pastries, yogurts and cooked options using locally-sourced ingredients.

Your surroundings here are all part of the appeal. Hoveton Hall has magnificent gardens including a Victorian iron glass house, an ice well, walled formal and kitchen gardens, all surrounded by miles of estate land. It’s a wonderfully stately setting to discover just a few miles from Norwich and in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. It’s family-friendly too, with Norfolk’s glorious beaches close by. In the immediate area there are fabulous pubs and gourmet restaurants: guests here are spoilt for choice.

Hoveton Hall B&B suggests

Hoveton Hall also offers self-catering accommodation in the East Wing. This has three guest bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate six, though it can be rented (at a reduced rate) for just two. In any case guests here have use of a generous living room, a well-equipped kitchen and gardens giving on to the larger estate. Reluctantly no pets. Book direct for the best rates.

Location

Hoveton Hall is surrounded by farmland, winding lanes, pretty villages and the Norfolk Broads. Despite being just ten miles from Norwich it feels idyllically rural. Local attractions include Bewilderwood, the Bure Valley Railway, Cromer Pier, Ranworth Broad and Wroxham Barns.

Reviews

"Firstly location..... A stones throw from Bewilderwood and Wroxham Barns both of which are great family days out. All local towns and villages are in very easy reach for meals etc. Then the best part.... walk down the beautiful spiral stair case from your room, open the large front door and get exploring ..... the main path from the front door is a 10-15 minute scoot for a 5 year old to the beautiful garden kitchen cafe (which is a great place with owners creating a lovely vibe, also super good value when balancing the amazing quality of the food). The woods and garden on your doorstep are large enough for a morning run, a few hours of kids climbing trees and hiding in the maze type paths (not to mention the layout of the beautiful Trees, plants and streams for those who like to take a few pictures)"
