Glenaros Lodge
Aros, Isle of Mull PA72 6JP, ScotlandElegant Hebridean hideaway on the Isle of Mull
Glenaros Lodge is a comfortable Bed and Breakfast set in private grounds with splendid sea views, an ideal base for exploring the wonderful Mull and Iona archipelago.
Glenaros Lodge advertises just two guest bedrooms; a large king-sized double with ensuite rainfall shower and roll top bath and a twin room with a recently refurbished private bathroom. A third small double with antique bed can share the private bathroom with the twin: ideal for families or friends travelling together. All rooms are beautifully appointed with antique furnishings, original art works and comfortable beds. There are no TVs or trouser presses but plenty of reading matter and the sitting room, with a wood-burning stove for cooler nights, has plenty of games including a set of Lewis chess men.
Views from the breakfast room are spectacular, across the bay to Aros Castle and the Sound of Mull. Cooked breakfasts are provided using local ingredients where available as you drink in the sight of a tidal bay that constantly changes, to the delight of the resident wildlife. Outside there are four acres of gardens and grounds, fenced against deer and with countless viewpoints and sitting areas. Footpaths lead to a secluded nearby beach, Aros Castle, a nearby hill fort and Salen village.
Glenaros Lodge is fully registered under Scotland’s new regulations (license no AR58) but the atmosphere is more that of a family home than an hotel. There is a large drying room that you’re welcome to use, secure bike storage, a car charger, loads of parking, and more. Evening meals are not routinely on offer but they may occasionally be available, especially for whole-house bookings. Pets, apart from guide dogs, are sadly not allowed, but children of a responsible age are welcome: just call ahead to make arrangements. Glenaros Lodge only opened as a B&B in May 2024 and is already attracting glowing reviews: just book in, relax, and make yourself at home.
Glenaros Lodge B&B suggests:
Fae Cameron is an accomplished artist, and the Isle of Mull impossibly beautiful. This makes Glenaros Lodge a natural venue to host a residential painting course. Art tuition may be available, but call to confirm before you pack your paints.

Given it's remoteness, getting to Mull is surprisingly easy. With a car the usual route is by ferry from Oban which only takes 45 minutes but reservations are recommended. There are also ferries from Lochaline and Kilchoan where you just turn up at the port. There is car hire on the island, some taxis and an island bus service. Once at Glenaros Lodge you're well placed to take trips to Staffa,(Fingals Cave) Ulva or Iona, the cradle of Northern Christianity. Mull and her surrounding islands are a haven for wildlife- otters and sea eagles are routinely spotted and there are opportunities to see whales and basking sharks further out to sea and puffins in season.Reviews
A really warm welcome and a very sociable stay. Breakfasts generous and taken in a lovely room with view. The lounge another fine room with lots of reading options. Nice large bedroom with again fine views. The house overall characterful, the very large garden a work in progress which we would love to re-visit. Fae’s art inspiring and generous of her to share her experiences Guest from Grantham June 24Fae and Marcus Cameron
- Bio : Your hosts here are Fae and Marcus Cameron. Fae grew up on Mull, helping to run her parents' award-winning hotel, while Marcus trained in hotel management before working in the charity sector for most of his career. Fae is an accomplished artist and may be persuaded to add art tuition to enhance your stay. Glenaros Lodge is very much a family home that has newly opened as a B&B and the welcome is fresh and genuine.
