Cardross offers a wonderful blend of friendly informality and elegant formality
For anyone with an interest in historic buildings, this should be on your ‘must visit’ list as it is simply magnificent! Built in 1598 as a Tower House with later additions, it occupies a commanding position on rising ground above the River Forth with spectacular views in all directions.
Your arrival begins with beautiful parkland followed by a warm welcome by your hosts and the family pets. Through the main hall, adorned family portraits, you will ascend the grand staircase to your bed and breakfast room, which are spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished with wondrous views.
The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and a small open tower room, with dressing table and stool, leading off it, whilst the second bedroom has a private bathroom.
The house has a particularly fine formal drawing as well as dining room, however, B&B guests will be served breakfast and dinner in the less formal atmosphere of a delightful small Georgian paneled dining room and be entertained in the evening in the charming library in front of a roaring fire.
Or in finer weather, relax on the pretty stone terrace and soak up the sun or explore the glorious garden.
Cardross is in the fringe of the Scottish Highlands and close to the Trossachs, immortalised by Sir Walter Scott and full of tales that trace the most exciting periods in Scottish history. Follow Rob Roy MacGregor and others to discover more about Scotland’s past.
