Currently the only 5 Star Accommodation in Moray

goodtogo logoThere’s the scent of the Gulf Stream on this part of Scotland’s coast, where Blervie House gazes serenely over the Moray Firth.

This defies the stereotype by making this part of Scotland the third-sunniest region of the UK.  Meaning that Blervie House is the perfect base from which to explore the unexpected beauty of this remote region.

Easily reached from Inverness Airport, Blervie House is set in 272 acres of its estate. Forty-five acres are garden while the rest is woodland, a paradise of walking and riding trails. The lawn attracts regular visitors, such as deer and red squirrels. Blervie Houseguests also tend to return.

There are twelve guest bedrooms here, each beautifully furnished. All linens are Egyptian high-count cotton sheets and Hungarian goose-down duvets. Ten of these bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.

This historic stately home has the flexibility to suit any size of party, ranging from a cosy single room to two-bedroom suites.  The house is ideal for individuals or small groups, perhaps in Scotland, to play golf together.

Though it’s tempting to luxuriate in the comfort of your room or suite, Blervie House’s public areas are sure to draw you downstairs before long. Five common areas suit every mood, including a billiard room with a full-sized table. Relax in the reading room.

Enjoy the atmospheric dining room for traditional breakfasts or, by arrangement, for evening meals.

Outside there’s a terrace looking out over 45 acres of garden and croquet lawn. You can choose to explore the countless walking and riding trails that all start from the house. Blervie House also offers stabling for your horses.

Location

At first glance, Blervie House may seem remote. However, Inverness airport is just a short 30-minute drive away. If you are taking the train, the overnight sleeper from London to Inverness is a beautiful train journey. Drivers should find the time to explore The Snow Roads through the Cairngorms National Park. And once you're on the estate, it's tempting not to leave, with riding trails and countryside just outside the door, not to mention the resident dogs and horses. But the area has much more to offer. There are miles of glorious beaches, deserted apart from the resident seals, and countless small harbours and inlets to visit. Inland there are whisky distilleries, golf courses and National Parks and nature reserves on every side. Plan lots of time for your stay here - there's more to do than you'll ever fit in.

Reviews

Recent Review  - Geoff and I stayed with you last week Wednesday 16th September, we had just completed the NC500 so Blervie House was perfect for relaxing. What a stunning location and a beautiful house. Graham and Sheena were very welcoming and we had a good chat in the kitchen and at breakfast. The house is super safe during the Covid era and every attention was given to sanitisation etc. We will certainly come back. Recent Review - Excellent hosts and property. A hybrid of visiting a friend and staying in a 6-star palace. The property was meticulously kept and highly recommended. Recent Review - We enjoyed a great stay at Blervie. The property is classically styled though recently renovated so feels clean and fresh - more modern than some photos may suggest. Hosts Sheena and Graham were very welcoming and happy to interact as much or as little as you prefer, providing a generous high-quality breakfast. Blervie adapted well to Covid measures - we found the property very clean throughout, and the enormous scale of common areas makes social distancing easy. Would have liked to stay longer than three nights and would certainly stay again if visiting the area.

Sheena at Blervie House

Graham & Sheena Thompson

  • Bio : Your hosts here are Graham and Sheena Thompson, who spent three years renovating Blervie House to provide 21st Century comforts while retaining its period charm. Both have Scottish origins and enjoy welcoming guests into their home and introducing them to this stunning - and little-known - part of the UK. Breakfast includes specialities such as Sheena's homemade granola, and there's the option of adding haggis to your cooked breakfast as you sit looking out over deer and red squirrels that play in the garden. The dining room can also host lavish banquets for special occasions.
