Win the Wolsey Lodges prize for October. This is a two-night stay for two at North Walls House, a beautiful property – with free off-street parking – in the heart of Chichester.

Chichester is an eminently walkable Cathedral City, and with its position inside Chichester’s city walls North Walls House is perfect base from which to explore.

North Walls House is an eight-bedroom Grade II* listed family home that has been extensively renovated to reflect its Georgian heritage but – unlike many B&Bs – it is child friendly, with stair gates where needed and all the cots, high chairs, etc you’re likely to need.

Accommodation is flexible with seven guest bedrooms, two of which are en suite, and two guest bathrooms – but guests aren’t ever expected to share.

Guests aren’t limited to their bedrooms, with an elegant drawing room complete with a magnificent grand piano, comprehensively stocked with games, jigsaws, toys and books to entertain every taste. Through the summer months the walled garden comes to life, forming an oasis of calm despite its city setting.

North Walls House also has an adjacent coach house, ideal as – and frequently used as – a rehearsal and teaching venue for musicians or actors. Chichester has an excellent theatre and a good range of art galleries and museums. Chichester Harbour and the Channel coast are in easy reach, as are the Goodwood Estate, West Dean College and the South Downs National Park.
