Win the Wolsey Lodges prize for July. This is a two-night weekday stay for two at Priory Steps, a multi-award-winning luxury B&B in Bradford-on-Avon, beautifully converted from six 17th century weaver’s cottages. These were built to attract Flemish weavers with magnificent views over the town and have now been converted into five ensuite guest rooms and suites, beautifully furnished in period style.

The ground floor has a leather-sofa’d library, lined by books and games, and a dining room with open fire opening on to a captivating terrace and gardens.

Bradford-on-Avon is a Wiltshire gem, a beautiful mellow-stone town packed with period buildings. Bath is a short drive – or one stop by train – away, but the Bradf0rd itself has all the appeal of a historic rural market town and goes further with its own splendid Norman church, medieval Tithe Barn and a 14th century bridge featuring a lock-up prison. Add countless independent shops and restaurants and there’s plenty to tempt you to linger a little.
