Classic, Cosy and above all hospitable with a capital ‘H’

Fragrances of lavender, honeysuckle, jasmine, and roses tumbling over golden stone walls, alongside a range of regular avian residents create an air of calm, that instantly relaxes and enchants all guests upon arrival. Uplands House B&B is approached along a drive lined with ancient lime trees, at the end of which await a enthiastic welcome of tea and homemade cakes, served in the spacious drawing room or – weather permitting – in the magnificent garden.

Your B&B hosts are excellent cooks, offering splendid four-course dinners or a lighter supper accompanied with wonderful wines. Poppy is a Vigneron of St Emilion, and they have a really good wine list – all stored in the Uplands House cellars. They’re pretty good gardeners at Uplands House B&B too, as much of the produce used comes from their own vegetable garden, as does the fruit, everything else is locally sourced.

There are three guest bedrooms at Uplands House. Smartest is the magnificent four poster bedroom, a luxurious dual-aspect room bathed in light through the day with views over trees set out by Capability Brown. The Georgian inlaid mahogany bed is super-comfortable with a modern superking mattress, and the adjoining bathroom has its own bath, walk-in double shower, and more views over the gardens and parkland. The Chinse Room is a large south-facing bedroom that have two Chippendale beds that can be zipped together to make a superking double and an en-suite with a good long bath with shower over. Finally the Tulip Room is cosier and catches the morning sun with views over the orangery and rose garden and an ensuite featuring a bath with shower over.

Whichever you choose, be spoilt by the luxury of fresh flowers, crisp bed linen, lovely bathroom accessories and be assured of a scrumptious breakfast when you wake.
