29 Church Road
Ketton, Rutland, PE9 3RD, England, Lincolnshire, Rutland, MidlandsGallery
Village haven by Stamford Town
29 Church Road is a charming B&B with two guest bedrooms just outside Stamford, offering character accommodation with an exceptional garden, part-walled and leading down to a magical clear-water stream. It is perfectly placed on the outskirts of the historic stone town of Stamford, close to Rutland Water and Burghley House, as well as being just a mile off the Great North Road, the A1.
Accommodation is unusually flexible. The first guest bedroom is in the main house and has a full-sized double bed, a new ensuite with shower, and views over the garden. The second is in the barn annexe, and comprises a bedroom with double bed, an ensuite shower and a spacious garden room. There is a small but functional kitchen area as well. Furnishings are simple but supremely comfortable.
Breakfast is served in a sunny dining room. All the regular breakfasts are on offer, along with extras such as home-made granola. Your hosts long experience in B&B mean that special diets can always be catered for – though it helps to mention this in advance.
Guests here aren’t confined to their rooms. There’s a garden room and a sitting room warmed in cool weather by an open fire that clearly dates back several hundred years. Guests can enjoy the large private garden, shaded by mature parkland trees, with a summer house and lawns that lead down to the River Chater. And despite being only five minutes drive from the centre of Stamford 29 Church Road has plenty of secluded parking, secured by electric gates.
Dogs are accepted, especially if they get along with Oz, 29 Church Road’s resident springer spaniel. And there are at least half a dozen interesting walks from the door.
