Win a two-night stay at Lordington House

May’s competition prize is a two-night stay for two at Lordington House, an outstanding B&B just outside Chichester. Built on a gentle rise facing southeast over the Ems Valley, this fine 17th Century manor house is surrounded by a lovingly tended garden, especially radiant during the spring and summer seasons.

Inside, this is a much-loved family home. There is a drawing room for B&B guests (warmed in winter by an open fire), where there are books to browse and board games to play. There’s also a music/television room, but the TV is rather upstaged by a Bechstein grand piano.

A magnificent staircase leads up to the three guest bedrooms. These are classically furnished with an eclectic mix of Georgian, Victorian, oriental and contemporary features, plus, of course, superbly comfortable beds.

Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room; a generous affair with freshly laid eggs from the garden, locally sourced produce and homemade preserves. This sets you up for a day of exploration: great walks are from your door.
