Win a two-night stay at Castle Farm

Carricks at Castle Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast

Win the Wolsey Lodges prize for January. This is a two-night weekday stay for two at Castle Farm. Set on a riverbank at the heart of a working family-run farm, this is a historic building dating back 350 years, but was sympathetically updated in the Victorian era by famous Norfolk architect Thomas Jeckyll. It’s thoroughly modernised, with all four bedrooms offering every luxury, but the atmosphere is timeless: furnishings are antique or heirlooms, the decor traditional, and there’s the feeling of staying with friends rather than a commercial B&B.

Breakfasts are superb, with many home-grown ingredients, and there’s always the option, and it’s often possible to arrange equally delicious evening meals.

Castle Farm is beautifully set near Norwich and Dereham, within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads and coast. There are walks from the door, along the river and around the farm, with countless National Trust properties, abbeys and cathedrals to explore in the region.

Overall, the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. Spend time on the terrace watching the sun set over the river and treat the place as your home: your hosts only ask that – should you retire to bed last – you close outer doors and turn off the lights.
