Win the Wolsey Lodges prize for September. This is a two-night stay for two at Boreham House, a multi-award-winning luxury B&B  in the heart of 1066 country. Set in the charming East Sussex village of Boreham Street, it has magnificent views over its own Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This part of the country is packed with historic houses, castles and gardens: there’s always plenty to see and do.

In this very civilised part of the UK Boreham House provides a lovely refuge to rest, relax, indulge and enjoy. Guest are free to explore the house and gardens, and there’s also a ‘snug’ to relax in before heading up to your room.

The breakfasts are superb with plenty of choice. Vegetarians are well catered for but a alongside the signature ‘Full English a notable highlight are the ‘Colombian Eggs’. These are scrambled eggs with spring onion and tomato, served with toasted sourdough alongside sliced avocado and hot sauce on the side.

And with just three guest bedrooms – a suite and two doubles – it’s not somewhere that ever feels crowded.

Simon & Sara Parker

Sara and Simon both love entertaining and nothing is too much trouble, including making reservations for guests at local pubs and restaurants. Simon is a business consultant and Sara left her career in higher education, having worked in the Middle East and Africa, once the restoration was complete. They also have a charming Norfolk terrier called Rosie.
