Win the Wolsey Lodges prize for March. This is a two-night stay at Afon Rhaiadr Country House, a gastro-B&B beautifully set in Snowdonia National Park.

Afon Rhaiadr is a sophisticated seven-bedroom B&B offering foodie refinement and five-star comforts in the heart of Snowdonia’s most spectacular landscapes at the foot of Cader Idris Mountain. The property is 200 years old, furnished with a mix of antique and modern pieces, and set in a wonderful forest garden, with its own river frontage and private waterfalls. No children, no pets: just very lavish comforts and the finest fare.

Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room and is always an event. Afon Rhaiadr takes its cuisine very seriously and every meal is a highlight. Serious dinners are regularly on offer here, while afternoon teas are served daily.

If you’d like to relax there’s a fine drawing room for guests which gives onto a conservatory and then the garden. The gardens cover three acres, with plenty of seating areas, and includes forests, waterfalls and a disused railway line. Take a packed lunch: there’s plenty to explore.

Cooked breakfast each morning of your stay.

Extra nights can be added at the going rate. And if the winner chooses to indulge in an Afon Rhaiadr evening meal (at the standard rate) their palates will be soothed by a complementary glass of fizz.

The prize is to be taken on weeknights (Sunday to Thursday) before 28th February 2027 (excluding Bank Holidays, the peak period from May to the end of September and Christmas to the New Year), is subject to availability and is not transferable.
