Woodlands Retreat is set in its own secluded woodlands with a private gate leading on to a network of paths and bridleways that thread through the adjoining Dunstall Estate, offering endless opportunities for rural walks, hacking or bike-rides. Here the setting is highly rural; its birdsong you hear, not traffic. The village too is within easy walking distance, giving you an interesting choice of pubs, and restaurants and individual shops. Further opportunities for exercise are offered at Cannock Chase, Croxall Lakes, Rosliston Forestry Reserve and Branston Water Park, all within easy reach, as is the long distance footpath of the Staffordshire Way. The much lauded National Memorial Arboretum is just 10 minutes drive along the A38. A visit here is a meaningful and moving experience that can easily take up a whole day of your time.
Local attractions include the Snowdome, Drayton Manor and Alton Towers theme parks, or for a touch of culture, the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre, Lichfield Garrick and Derby Playhouse are all within easy reach. There are good reasons why Staffordshire is known as the ‘creative county’!
