Quiet 2-bedroom rural home just outside Tisbury, on the Wiltshire/Dorset border
Set amid the saintly Donhead villages of the Nadder Valley, Talbot Cottage B&B is a delightful newly-renovated two-bedroom building in seven-acres of gardens, woodlands and fields. In some ways it’s unlike a standard Wolsey Lodge property, in that Talbot Cottage is a few metres away from the main property and has its own full kitchen. Guests can be as private as they like with continental breakfasts provided, but they are also welcome to mingle with cooked breakfasts and evening meals on offer in the main building.
There are two guest bedrooms here. Ochre has cosy twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with a large, double-ended bath. Mint is a king-sized room with wide door access and an en-suite shower room with disabled facilities. There is underfloor heating throughout, extending to the limestone floors of the en-suite bathrooms.
Both rooms share an open plan kitchen and sitting room, with a wood-burning stove, a TV and French double doors opening onto a sunny terrace, with views over fields and woodlands. This is a great place to enjoy a TV dinner, but for a more expansive meal head up to the main house to be entertained in style. Menus and dietary requirements can all be tailored to your needs.

Location
Talbot Cottage is in the heart of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a glorious part of England spreading across Dorset and Wiltshire. The Donheads are a tangle of villages linked by winding lanes, four miles from Shaftesbury and less than five from Tisbury, with its train station with a direct link to London. Set just behind the 13th century St Andrews Church, Talbot Cottage is set in seven acres of garden, fields and woodlands leading down to the Nadder River. Wardour Castle, Messums Wiltshire, Larmer Tree and Stourhead gardens are close by, and it's within easy reach of Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.

Olivia Talbot
- Bio : Your hosts, Hugh and Olivia, share a wealth of local knowledge, enjoying all aspects of country sports with their beloved working cocker spaniel along with cultural activities offered locally too. Talbot Cottage is elegant and comfortable, underfloor heating and excellent wifi, along with White Company linen and Cowshed products in the bathrooms. While breakfasts are normally continental (homemade granola, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants) and served in the privacy of the Cottage, special diets can be accommodated and fully cooked breakfasts can be supplied on request. Delicious evening meals can be arranged, whether simple TV suppers to enjoy in the cottage living room (woodburning stove) or candlelit gourmet dinners in the main house. Alternatively, there's an excellent pub within ten minutes' walk, and countless more in the immediate area.
