A Cotswold haven in Bourton-on-the-Water
Bourton-on-the-Water, affectionately known as ‘Little Venice’, is one of the Cotswold’s iconic villages – and Holly House provides an excellent base at the heart of things. A warm, refined welcome backed by considered, extravagant comforts, makes this a highly-rated place to stay in an idyllic part of England.
There are six guest bedrooms at Holly House, each with en-suite shower rooms featuring a rainhead and handheld shower and Duck Island toiletries. Heating is thermostatically controlled and can be individually adjusted, while each room has well stocked beverage tray and under counter fridge. Flat screen tv and Smart Tv facilities including complimentary Netflix, Google home assistant, an iron and board and a hairdryer complete each room’s facilities. The decor is bright, contemporary and very comfortable.
Breakfasts are served in the light and airy Breakfast Room overlooking the garden. They start with a choice from the cold breakfast buffet followed by a traditional full English breakfast, fish dish or light alternative, and are always cooked to order. Special diets can be catered for – let us know when booking – but please note the kitchen is not completely free of nuts, gluten, meat or fish: please check with us if you have allergy concerns.
There’s a sitting room for guests that comes into its own in the cooler months, there’s a reception room that is always stocked with teas, cakes and sherry on hand, and in the summer guests spill out onto the terrace and gardens.
Guests here generally stay three nights or more and Holly House does not take group bookings, children or pets. This means the atmosphere is calm, light, sociable and animated.

Holly House is just off the A429 in Bourton-on-the-Water, but once you've pulled into the B&B's own car park there's plenty to explore on foot. It's a seven-minute walk to the town's historic High Street, and only thirteen to reach Birdland Park and Gardens. There are walks from the door: it takes barely 20 minutes to walk to the timeless villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter. Boughton is very much a Cotswold highlight thanks to its mellow stone buildings and many village-centre bridges over the River Windrush; many visitors spend all of their time exploring their immediate surroundings. A car opens up the whole of the Cotswold AONB, with charming villages such as Broadway, Burford, Chipping Campden, and Stow on the Wold, as well as countless landscapes to explore.
