Holly House, Bourton on the waterStation Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham GL54, England
Beautifully quiet and five minutes walk from ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’
There’s always cake, tea and sherry on offer in the guest sitting room of this very welcoming guest house. Holly House is quietly set but a short stroll from the world-famous bridges and independent shops of Bourton on the water, the very epitome of the mellow-stone villages that have made the Cotswolds so famous.
Holly House has four guest bedrooms and two suites, all individually furnished with kingsized or double beds, flat-screen smart TVs with Netflix and minifridges, noted for their complimentary chocolates and treats, and well-stocked beverage trays. Heating in all rooms is thermostatic with adjustable temperature controls. En-suite shower rooms all have separate rain heads and handheld sprays and toiletries are by Duck Island. Beds are super-comfortable and the decor is contemporary but sympathetic: each room is named and each has a character all of its own.
Breakfasts are served in a light-filled dining room and are of the highest standard. Guests aren’t confined to their rooms at Holly House: there’s a welcoming guest sitting room and gardens to explore.

Holly House is quietly set in the heart of Bourton on the water, just outside Cheltenham. There is off-street guest parking to the front of the property and gardens to the rear. Bourton on the water is known as 'The Venice of the Cotswolds' thanks to its rivers and mellow-stone bridges, and is very much a highlight of the region, with a range of independent shops and restaurants, all of which are within easy walking distance. Prime attractions include The Cotswold Perfumery, the Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park & Gardens and Bourton Model Village. There's a monthly farmer's market in Boughton or hop in your car and there are more at Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold. There are lots of National Trust and English Heritage properties in the area, as well as the Roman Villa at Chedworth, Sherborne Lodge Park, and Hidcote Manor Garden.
"We have just spent 5 nights a this exceptional guest house.Jayne and David are very friendly warm hosts who have thought of every aspect of covid safety, which for us is essential when staying anywhere. The entire property is immaculate and has very tasteful and spotlessly clean rooms. We were in the Notgrove suite which was a bright and cheerful bedroom with very nice fixtures and fittings,an extremely comfortable bed and a sitting room with sofa,tv and fridge, which had fresh milk chocolate treats and filtered water, all for the enjoyment and convenience of its guests. The breakfast was superb and my husband a head chef of over 45 years said it was the best breakfast he has ever had and we were spoilt for choice. This is a b and b of highest quality and standards, and would be the kind of place where you would want to return to time and time again.Thankyou so much for a perfect stay"
